  12. People at my site are complaining that the latest LaTeX
  13. is slower than the previous (grossly out of date) version.
  14. I still haven't found what I've done wrong.  All possible
  15. files are in leaf directories.  Is the latest kpathsearch
  16. doing more than old versions?

  18. What about making use of GNU locate?  I recently installed
  19. this at our site, and only wish I had done so a lot earlier.
  20. The file DB is updated nightly, so it doesn't acknowledge
  21. daily changes, but then (almost) all our important files
  22. are stable from one day to the next.
